Banana Oat Pancakes

Posted by Nikki Kovacs on

A baby-friendly pancake recipe is a wholesome and easy way to introduce solids to your little one. These pancakes are typically made with simple, nutritious ingredients like mashed bananas, oats, and eggs (optional), ensuring they are soft, naturally sweet, and easy to chew!

You can blend the ingredients into a smooth batter to make pancakes that are tender and suitable for babies around four-six months and older, depending on their developmental stage. For added nutrition, you can include grated fruits or vegetables like apples or carrots. Cook the pancakes in a non-stick pan without added salt, sugar, or excessive oil to keep them healthy. I often use coconut oil or avocado spray to keep them from sticking. These pancakes are perfect for baby-led weaning or as a fun finger food, offering a great way to encourage self-feeding and exploration.

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 banana

2-3 ounces your choice milk/formula

1/4 ground rolled oats

**optional: 1 egg

**optional: shredded apple, carrot

coconut oil/avocado oil spray (for cooking)

STEPS:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until combined.
  2. Spray a small, nonstick pan with avocado oil or melt coconut oil. Once warm, pour about 1 tablespoon-size pancakes. Cook each side 1-2 minutes, until golden in color.
  3. Serve with fresh chopped berries.

Leftover can be stored in the freezer up to 3 months.
